She has worked in Mexico, Colombia, Santo Domingo, and Ghana, where, in February 2015, she organized the largest hackathon ever to be held on the continent of Africa.
Nicole Poindexter is the CEO of Black Star Energy, a renewable energy company that builds, owns and operates solar powered mini-grids for off grid communities with more than 100 households. Black Star Energy’s solar powered mini-grids provide 24-hour electricity to communities using solar and battery storage. Black Star Energy was the first company to receive a commercial license to develop and operate off grid solar powered mini-grids in Ghana; and currently operates several projects in the Ashanti Region serving 5500 people in several communities with reliable affordable electricity. Nicole was appointed to be an inaugural member of the US Department of Commerce Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee under Commerce Secretary Locke. She holds an MBA with distinction from Harvard University.

Rasaboat Ghana Limited envisions a future where everyone in the off-grid communities would be empowered through the use of Solar Home System to offset the use of kerosene lamps for a cleaner, affordable and reliable energy source. Their tailored Solar Home System (SHS) has a prepaid meter embedded in it to function as a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) system where the beneficiary of the system pays about one twentieth of the total cost of the system and immediately has access to the SHS.

For about twenty years, Mr.Nyanteh has designed, implemented and managed huge Information Technology (IT) networks such as that of the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) in the United States. Due to his extensive work in IT – troubleshooting and implementing solutions, he gained a knack for problem solving. His first rate skills in defining solutions led him to the design and implementation of the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH’s) next generation state-of-the-art network infrastructure.
Translight Solar Ltd provides a modular, monitored, state-of-the-art inverter with inbuilt payment systems to allow for the monthly payment of installations over 5-10 years. (i.e. the inverter will only operate when monthly payments are made). It can be deployed rapidly and it becomes the primary source of energy for the location of installation
