Lakesyde Farms
Lakesyde Farms was established in 2010 and is owned and managed by a trained Agriculturist from the University of Ghana, Legon, with a strong background in agriculture. With experiences ranging from managerial roles, supervisory roles and a direct involvement in labor relations, Lakesyde Farms go that extra length to bring to clients the quality they deserve. With a commitment to sustainable agriculture ‘using half as many resources for twice as much food’, Greenstaples was birthed with the aim of utilizing limited resources such as land and water through effective and efficient management coupled with soilless culture technology which is an intensive and high turnover system to produce high quality, clean vegetables, off a small area. The main advantages of this system over soil culture are a more efficient nutrition regulation, efficient use of water and fertilizers, ease and low cost of operation of the system, and higher density planting, leading to increased yields per acre, and last but not last an environmentally friendly way of farming. High yields of over 50% as compared with soil culture/conventional methods.
The owner, Cletus Darrah is a passionate farmer who has been farming for over 8 years after completing his BSc and national service at the University of Ghana, Legon and he has continued to develop his skills, capacity and knowledge in agriculture over the years.
